Come and join us!
CFT has a dynamic and collaborative working environment. Many of our departments are based in an open plan office wrapped around the Festival Theatre stage, with views onto Oaklands Park, ensuring we work closely together and establish strong and mutually supportive relationships.
We have 80 permanent staff in roles ranging from Technical and Producers to Finance, Marketing to Theatre Management, Development to Engineering, and Learning, Education and Participation. Every department is integral to the Theatre’s work and our world-renowned productions.
During the Festival season we welcome additional staff to our Technical departments, including Wigs & Wardrobe, Props, Stage, Lighting and Sound. Many people return each year but we always enjoy welcoming new faces too.
CFT believes professional development is important for all our staff; training and short courses are encouraged and readily available. We also offer apprenticeships, work placements and traineeships.
We offer competitive salaries and a variety of staff benefits including a generous contribution to staff pensions; for full details, see our individual Recruitment Packs.
Chichester Festival Theatre believes diversity is about celebrating and valuing individuals. The Theatre has an equality of opportunity approach and aspires to give everyone the chance to achieve their potential.
We particularly welcome applications from individuals whose background and experience are currently under-represented among our staff, including disabled people and people who are ethnically and culturally diverse and who experience racism in our society.
Chichester Festival Theatre is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people we work with. We ensure a range of policies and procedures are in place which promote safeguarding and safer practice across our organisation.
CFT’s policy is to email all unsuccessful candidates if they have not been shortlisted for interview. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we cannot always guarantee to give feedback although we will try to do so where possible.
For actors: CFT does not have a full-time, in-house casting department. Our Casting Associate, Charlotte Sutton CDG, works on most Festival productions (occasionally alongside other freelance casting directors). We endeavour to uphold the theatre Audition Guidelines as specified by the Casting Directors Guild.
