Drop In Workshop - Top Hat Tap

Thu 17 Jul

About Drop In Workshop - Top Hat Tap

Top Hat Tap

Our monthly drop-in sessions are the perfect way to try out a new creative artform in a relaxed, no-pressure setting. Come every month or as and when you can make it, each session is stand alone and low commitment.

Always wanted to try tap dance? Keen to dust of those tap shoes in the back of the wardrobe? Then this Top Hat Tap Workshop is for you! Led by Dancer and Choreographer Rachel Hogarth, participants will learn short inspired by CFT’s production of Top Hat.

No experience necessary, all that is required is willingness to learn and a love of moving your body!  We advise bringing a water bottle and wearing clothing suitable for moving around in.

When and where do sessions take place?

This practical workshop will take place in the Rehearsal Room in the Steven Pimlott Building, onsite at Chichester Festival Theatre, on Thursday 17 July from 11.30am – 1pm.

Cost and Bursaries

Drop-In sessions cost just £10 per person. You can book your space in advance or, as the name suggests, you can simply drop-in on the day.

We believe everyone should have the chance to take part, so if cost feels like a barrier, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask about our bursary scheme. For more information, email us at leap@cft.org.uk—we’d love to hear from you.

Practitioner Bio

Rachel Hogarth graduated with a first-class honours degree in Musical Theatre (triple threat) in 2019. Since graduating she has worked on numerous productions from performing at Earl’s Court Studios at Goodwood Revival, to working as a Deputy Stage Manager at the New Theatre Royal, Connaught Theatre and Alexandra Theatre to name a few. Back in 2021 she started up Beginner and Intermediate tap classes which she successful runs each week. Her favourite aspect of teaching these classes is to see how much her students improve week after week and the joy it bring them and herself.
