News Story

Here at CFT, summer and singing go hand in hand. Our much-anticipated musical, Top Hat, has just opened in the Festival Theatre, and following the rock’n’roll swing of Marie and Rosetta, Choir will keep the Minerva Theatre flooded with song.

But at CFT, singing isn’t only for the stage. It’s for anyone who wants to give it a go and happens all year round in a range of groups for people of all ages and backgrounds. Read on to find out how you could give it a try.

And to set the mood, choirs from our local community will be bringing the spirit of Choir to life with live performances before the show on selected dates. Check out the line up of choirs and list of dates here.

Singing tells the body it’s safe. It regulates your nervous system. And when that happens, participants become quick friends. Singing together helps forge community.

Laura Blake, Melody Circle leader

Singing with other parents, especially songs I didn’t know before, has been a joy I didn’t expect.

I’ve seen people arrive hesitant and leave glowing with confidence. The notes on the page don’t limit you, they give you something to bounce off and a framework that sets you free.

Mark Bradbury, Little Notes and CFYT Singers leader

I have never considered myself as a singer, but thanks to the patient teaching, I have gained greater confidence in my ability to sing and now feel I have more control over my voice. I have met some lovely people and made new friends.
