This Winter, Chichester becomes home to some of the country’s most exciting touring theatre, music, comedy and dance, with a season packed full of unforgettable stories, spectacular entertainment and unmissable shows. 

From James Graham’s Olivier Award-winning Best New Play Punch and the cult phenomenon turned smash-hit musical Heathers, to The Last Laugh direct from its West End run and a gripping new production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, this season is brimming with exceptional theatre.

Quality classics such as Noël Coward’s celebrated comedy Present Laughter and Dickens’ gripping A Tale of Two Cities share the Festival stage with powerful contemporary storytelling, including Khaled Hosseini’s acclaimed A Thousand Splendid Suns. We’re especially excited to present two Papatango Prize-winning plays, The Silence and the Noise and Birdcatcher, in the Minerva Theatre.

An outstanding programme of one-night events includes Dame Judi Dench, Sir Derek Jacobi, The Archers and Sara Pascoe. Meanwhile, our newest venue, The Nest, continues to buzz with a vibrant year-round programme, offering even more opportunities to discover something unexpected.

Before our Winter season gets underway, we still have two Festival productions created especially for our stages. A Midsummer Night’s Dream relocates Shakespeare’s exuberant comedy to 1990s Sussex, where rave culture collides with magic on the South Downs. In the Minerva Theatre, Antigone Exits brings Greek tragedy blazing into the present day.

Christmas at CFT is always a special time. At the heart of our festive programme is Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure, brought to life by the extraordinary Chichester Festival Youth Theatre. Families can also enjoy the return of Hey! Christmas Tree, alongside our much-loved Santa’s Grotto and Christmas Concerts. And as the new year begins, we welcome The Nutcrackerto round off the festive season in magical style.
