Chichester Festival Youth Theatre

In line with Government advice we are not currently running any of our workshops, sessions or events. The welfare of our participants, audiences, artists and staff is paramount, and we also want to support the valiant efforts of our health service. Our latest announcement can be found here.

Whilst we are working on ways that we can support our community, take a look at some ways you can Get Creative with CFT at home. We look forward to opening our doors and welcoming our audiences back as soon as we can.

Although we have had to take the difficult decision of cancelling our productions, providing that social distancing measures are relaxed by September we still intend to go ahead with CFYT sessions as usual from the beginning of the autumn term. If you have any immediate questions please email cfyt@cft.org.uk.

Remote Arts Award

We’ve created digital resource packs so that our members can complete an Arts Award project from home over the coming weeks. You can do this just for fun, or if you would like to have your Arts Award moderated and receive a certificate there will be a small fee. Visit our Remote Arts Award page to find out more.

Our award-winning Chichester Festival Youth Theatre (CFYT) engages over 800 young people in weekly sessions at CFT and at our 8 satellite locations across West Sussex. We aim to help young people of all abilities from a variety of backgrounds to develop their artistic, personal and social skills. Open to members from 5 to 25, CFYT is for anyone who wants to discover new skills, build confidence, make friends and have fun!

CFYT is the highlight of my week

Youth Theatre member

As well as taking part in weekly sessions, Youth Theatre members also have the opportunity to audition for CFYT productions, which are enjoyed by tens of thousands of audience members each year. Since it was founded in 1985, the Youth Theatre has staged over 80 productions. In recent years the Christmas production has become a highlight of the season, giving members the experience of performing on the Festival Theatre stage in a professional standard production. Our Technical Youth Theatre members also have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in the industry in a world-renowned theatre.

Groups and Locations

Alongside drama sessions we also offer Youth Dance, Musical Theatre, Technical Youth Theatre and sessions for young people with additional needs (these groups are CFYT Wednesday in Horsham and CFYT Friday in Chichester); so choose a group that's right for you and join us!
