Scriptwriting with Phil Porter

3 February, 1.45pm - 2:15pm

About Scriptwriting with Phil Porter

Dreaming of seeing your story on stage but not sure where to start?

Join acclaimed British playwright, librettist, and television writer Phil Porter for a special one-off scriptwriting masterclass. Discover what it takes to write a play, from crafting compelling characters and dialogue to shaping dramatic structure. Learn about pathways into the industry, tips for getting your work noticed, and the resources available to emerging writers.

Whether you're full of ideas or just exploring your creative side, this session offers invaluable insights and inspiration to help you take the first step toward a career in playwriting.

Phil’s diverse body of work spans theatre, opera, and television. He has written for Soho Theatre, the RSC, National Theatre, Frantic Assembly and many more. He adapted Festival 2025's production of Nikolai Gogol’s The Government Inspector, which delighted audiences in Chichester.

This event is part of our Creative Industries Career Day. An unmissable day of discovery in the creative industries.

You'll find more inspiring sessions with creative organisations large and small; chances to meet with artists, designers, theatre-makers, writers and creatives, and find out about careers that you didn’t even know existed.
