We’re thrilled to have won the 2022 UK Theatre Award for Digital Innovation for our 60th Anniversary initiative, Digital Stages.

Digital Stages celebrated our diamond anniversary with digital events ranging from a cutting-edge recreation of the 1962 stage, to a brand-new virtual game Game Changer created by our community companies for adults with learning disabilities.

Julia Walter, our Creative Digital Producer, says: “We were so excited to harness the creative opportunities digital gave us to celebrate CFT’s 60th anniversary. These events enabled us to extend our reach and engagement with existing and new audiences and demonstrate our commitment as an organisation to developing new experiences through digital innovation.”

Digital Stages launched on the exact date of our 60th Anniversary with the streaming of Visionary Stages, using cutting-edge technology to recreate our 1962 stage for a virtual meet-up with Artistic Director Daniel Evans and guests including Sir Derek Jacobi and John Simm, and continued with the Backstage Virtual Tour; the sharing of a community initiative, Your Dream; the Digital Diorama, highlighting objects from CFT’s rich archive; and a chance to play the newly created Game Changer.

We’d like to say a huge ‘Thank you!' to everyone who helped to make Digital Stages such a success, and congratulations to our fellow finalists and all the winners at the UK Theatre Awards.
