Behind the scenes of Mom, How Did You Meet The Beatles?

Here's the first look at the company of our latest Minerva drama, the UK premiere of Adrienne Kennedy's autobiographical Mom, How Did You Meet The Beatles? With just two weeks to go, the team will be arriving in Chichester next week to put their finishing touches to this mesmerising two-hander.

The company in rehearsals

  • Rakie and Jack are stood together in the rehearsal room, looking out in the same direction and laughing happily.
  • The company are rehearsing; the creative team are sat around a table with notebooks and scripts, and behind the actors we can see a screen with live projections coming from a camera pointed at Rakie.
  • Diyan has her hands outstretched as if clapping and smiling broadly at someone out of shot.
  • Jack is sat playing an acoustic guitar with colourful projections playing across his face and onto the screen behind him.

Throughout the play Adrienne recalls her memories of calling on many artists and celebrities that she became friends with during her time in London. Take a look at our map to see just some of the places and people that she visited.

This map of central London is covered in pins and surrounded by post its which name places that Adrienne and her son visit during the course of the play. Each place name is accompanied by a short piece of dialogue from the script. The places are Basil Street Hotel, Maida Vale, Queensgate Terrace, Primrose Hill, Hampstead, The Old Vic, Piccadilly Circus, Baker Street, Savile Row and The Royal Court.
