Welcoming you back safely

Step 4 of the government’s roadmap anticipates the removal of all legal limits on social contact and the reopening of full theatre auditoriums from 21 June, subject to successful pilot test events taking place in April and May. We are delighted to confirm that our production of South Pacific will be going ahead as scheduled from 5 July.

In order for our audiences to feel confident and safe when visiting the Theatre, we will offer one fully socially distanced performance (at 50% capacity) each week, with all other performances initially booking with a reduced capacity auditorium.

Please note - all information is correct at time of publishing. We are acting in accordance with government guidelines, which are subject to change - please check this page before your visit.

Reduced capacity performances

The majority of South Pacific performances will initially go on sale with a reduced capacity auditorium (approx. 900 as opposed to a full capacity of 1300).  This will ease congestion in the foyer and public spaces. The following measures will also be in place for these performances:

  • E-tickets will be issued as standard. These do not have to be printed but can be shown on your smartphone or similar device for us to scan on entry. In order to reduce queueing and minimise contact, tickets will not be available for collection from the Box Office
  • We will carry out enhanced cleaning of all public areas, both prior to and during performances.
  • Hand sanitising stations positioned throughout the building
  • Face coverings are required for the duration of your visit (except for eating and drinking) unless exempt for health reasons. Front of House staff will also wear face coverings
  • The RestaurantBars and Café will be open during your visit but transactions will be cashless and paperless, with perspex screens fitted at all sale points
  • Cloakrooms will not be available so please bring minimal belongings

  • Our socially-distanced auditorium offers a reduced capacity of just under 50% ensuring a 1m-plus space between parties
  • Seat bubbles are available as groups of 1 to 6 seats.
  • E-tickets will be issued as standard. These do not have to be printed but can be shown on your smartphone or similar device for us to scan on entry. In order to reduce queueing and minimise contact, tickets will not be available for collection from the Box Office
  • Tickets will detail timed arrivals with an assigned door number
  • Contactless temperature checks will be carried out at point of entry
  • Face coverings are required for the duration of your visit (except for eating and drinking) unless exempt for health reasons. Front of House staff will also wear face coverings
  • Contact details are collected during the booking process to support NHS Test and Trace
  • We will carry out enhanced cleaning of the auditorium between performances
