Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the first session of the Indian Classical Dance Course will no longer be taking place on Friday 15 June. Instead, the course will start on Friday 22 June. We will be adding an additional date to the course, and this page will be updated once this date is confirmed. Any queries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join Dancer and Choreographer Vidya Thirunarayan in this series of workshops, and explore the practice of Bharata Natyam, a classical style of Indian Dance.
Working together with Vidya, participants can look forward to enjoyable and creative sessions where they will be introduced to the various aspects of the artform in a supportive environment. The course will focus on the art of storytelling which is intrinsic to the dance form, and participants will work towards choreographing a short dance piece to be performed to an invited audience during the final session.
Vidya trained in Bharata Natyam at the world renowned Kalakshetra in Chennai, India. She has over 25 years’ experience as a performer, choreographer and tutor. She was the founding artistic director of Sankalpam, a national touring dance company and she has served as an artist-in-residence at several dance development organisations nationally.
