How It Works

The Creative Careers Fair will take place on Hopin – when you book your ticket you will be emailed a link to register.

We suggest taking a look at the platform before the event on 22 June 2021:

To get the most out of your attendee experience:

- Use headphones or a headset with a microphone. Hopin’s audio is sensitive. We recommend turning your audio ‘off’ (you'll recognise the little microphone button at the bottom of the screen) when not actively contributing. We also recommend trying to find a quiet room or space for the event.

- In general, use a laptop or desktop. It will be much more successful than a tablet or phone (Hopin does not always allow you to share your audio/video while using your phone).

- Check your internet connection. To test your connection, you can do a speedtest.nettest. (‘Upload’ speed is the most important measure). Turn off non-essential applications.

Use Chrome or Firefox as your browser. Please avoid Brave, Safari, and Microsoft IE or Edge for now.

Ahead of time you can:

- Create a full personal profile (including an image or photo)

- Understand the flow of the day in the Reception Area

On the left hand menu you’ll discover the event’s segments, which is where you’ll be able to access all aspects of the day:

- The Reception will give you crucial event information and announcements, including a full schedule.

- The Stage is where we’ll start and finish the day with our streamed sessions.

- Most of the day will happen in the Sessions area. You’ll notice when you enter a Session that you have the option to turn on your camera and audio. Most, but not all, sessions can have a maximum of 9 attendees participating via video and audio simultaneously (the number of participants in the space is unlimited). You’re still in the session even if you aren’t on camera and audio and can participate in the session chat.

- The Expo is not to be overlooked! This is where you’ll find information about all of the partners and suggestions for further reading/resources.

- We will be using the Networking area at key moments throughout the day. You can also go in here in any of the breaks and be matched with another attendee.

On the right-hand side, you’ll notice the chat and people functions:

- There’s a Chat for the entire event and an individual Chat for every Session and Expo booth. Important messages for everyone at the event will be posted in the main event chat, and conversations specific to each session will occur inside its own room. You can tag an attendee in a chat message by writing @theirname. Click someone's name to send them a direct message and/or invite them to a video call during the day.

- There’s also a People tab for each Session and Expo booth to show you who is in the room you’re currently in.

In the upper right hand corner you’ll see your profile name. You can right-click on this and select “edit profile” and live-edit your profile.

Hopin has compiled a lot of great information and FAQs for attendees. You can find those here.
