We are currently raising funds for our Ageless campaign.
As a Registered Charity (No. 1088552), we rely on the generosity of people like you to help us ensure that theatre and live art remain at the heart of people’s lives, particularly for older people who are at risk of isolation.
It costs us £100,000 a year to run our Ageless programme. By donating to Ageless today, you can help us to change people’s lives and ensure that no one misses out on the joys that theatre can bring.
Below is just a taste of the work we do to help enrich the lives of vulnerable older people.
Weekly opportunities for those living with dementia to come together and express themselves through singing and movement, so that people can experience the joy that comes from moving, singing, creating and being part of a group in a safe environment and with specially trained practitioners.
Fortnightly chances for people living with dementia to get creative through storytelling, using CFT props and heritage materials as inspiration. We have plans to grow this work, including taking the storytelling workshops out to more rural locations so that those living with more advanced dementia can join in without travel being an issue.
Our special community events programme, including our Get Into It! series, which offer older people as well as others who are free in the daytime a chance to develop new and existing skills in areas like acting, singing, devising, and writing, and at the same time to be inspired and make friends with similar interests.
We plan to begin a Festival of Ages where older professional artists, theatre makers and members of our adult community classes can re-discover their artistic skills and passions through creating their own performances and activities programme.
In 2017 we launched our new Buddies Scheme, providing volunteer companions for those who wish to see CFT productions but who would benefit from some extra support from a Buddy rather than coming alone. We have plans to grow this scheme and increase awareness of it, training more volunteers and offering the service alongside all Festival 2018 productions.
As a theatre we are committed to making sure everyone’s needs are met in order to enjoy the best possible experience, and so that no one is left out. Both Theatres are fully accessible and we offer a range of access performances and services.
