Andy Massey

Andy Massey studied at the Royal College of Music where he won major prizes as a pianist. His concert career took him throughout the UK and Europe as a soloist with orchestras and recital player. In 1996 he went to English National Opera and a year later joined the music staff at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, where he stayed for four years, working with some of the world's great conductors including Sir Andrew David, Sir Simon Rattle, Mark Elder OBE and Mark Wigglesworth, before moving into musical theatre.

He was Associate Musical Director on Billy Elliot from 2007 and was on the music teams of Mary Poppins (Prince Edward Theatre), Porgy and Bess and Guys and Dolls (Savoy Theatre), From Here to Eternity (Shaftesbury Theatre).

As Conductor/Musical Director credits include The Lion King, the Book of Mormon, La Cage aux Folles, Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot and The King and I. Recently Sum (ROH); The Life of the Party (Menier Chocolate Factory); The Wind in the Willows (Metropolitan Theatre Tokyo); Guys and Dolls (international tour).

Andy has become more involved as an Arranger and Orchestrator, most recently re-arranging and re-orchestrating Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker with David White for Will Tuckett's innovative immersive production due to be staged in London in the near future.
