Chichester Festival Theatre’s Autumn 2020 season is generously sponsored by Seaward Properties. Near neighbours of the Festival Theatre in the centre of Chichester, Seaward are Silver Level Principal Partners. Having often supported the summer musical, last year they sponsored the innovative Youth Theatre production, Crossing Lines.
We asked Jane Barker, Seaward’s Sales & Marketing Manager, about this long-standing and much valued partnership, and she told us:
‘Seaward first became involved with the Chichester Festival Theatre back in 2007 when the theatre was facing difficult times and needed to secure support to enable it to survive. Seaward’s Chairman, Barry Sampson, was approached by Lucy Brett, the organisation’s Development Manager at that time, and he was delighted to agree to become a sponsor.
‘Seaward is a Chichester-based company which has been building houses in the local area for nearly 50 years. Barry is Chichester born and bred and strongly believes in supporting local activities. We are so fortunate to have a world-renowned theatre in the city which not only provides an impressive range of productions but also runs a range of community and educational events and the fantastic Youth Theatre which every year amazes audiences with the confidence and talent of the young people involved. Another very important reason to be supporting the Festival Theatre.’
2020 has been an extremely challenging year for everyone, not least the Theatre and Seawards, as Jane acknowledges:
‘Whilst there have been no major changes in our partnership in recent years, this year has obviously been very different for everyone. Following the enforced closure during lockdown the Theatre has made great efforts to ensure that the public can hopefully enjoy productions during the autumn and winter of 2020 and beyond. Seaward was very happy to transfer its sponsorship from the summer programme to help support this new schedule.
‘Seaward, founded in 1972, is and always has been a local company, based in the heart of the city and with its founders both Cicestrians, the company is proud to be able to promote the city as a great place to live with a world class theatre.’
Rosie Hiles, Corporate Development Manager at Chichester Festival Theatre, comments: ‘Seaward’s ongoing support has been a real boost to us this season; their loyalty and generosity mean a huge amount to us. We’re extremely grateful for their partnership and we look forward to sharing a bright Chichester future with them.’
