On Giving Tuesday – the antidote to Black Friday – Chichester Festival Theatre is asking people to consider donating to our Ageless fundraising campaign, which aims to ensure that theatre and live art remain at the heart of people’s lives, particularly for those who are at risk of isolation.
It costs £100,000 a year to run this programme of events and activities for people who may not find it easy to get involved in theatre. As a registered charity we rely on the generosity of people like you to help us. Since the campaign launched in 2017, we have been bowled over by the generosity of our audience members, our Friends and the general public.
Among the new initiatives we’ve added over the past year are a new dementia friendly scheme of work at Hillside Lodge Care Home, Pulborough, and a pilot project aimed at reaching individuals who use the services of the Stonepillow Hostel, a registered charity working to relieve homelessness and social exclusion in the Arundel and Chichester District. There’ve been relaxed performances for Sleeping Beauty and Oklahoma!, as well as eight performances of Flute Theatre’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream specifically for young people on the autism spectrum and their families. We’ve also introduced a transport element for the CFT Buddies scheme, which is supported by Rathbones, and piloted a bespoke backstage tour of CFT for patrons who are visually impaired.
