News Story

A wave of colours mixed together - burnt orange, mustard, sage green, blue and pale pink - are rippling joyfully across the page with the words 'Festival 2023' across the centre.

Yes, it’s here! Daniel Evans and Kathy Bourne (our Artistic and Executive Directors) have announced Festival 2023 in all its glory.

We have a fantastic range of plays and musicals, including a handful of world premieres and renowned plays which have never been performed at CFT before. Can you believe we’ve never staged a play by Arthur Miller? Or Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most-loved musical? (Here’s a clue if you’re debating which one that is: it might just be your favourite thing…). We have a rare outing of a play by US writer Adrienne Kennedy and, 50 years after his death, a new production of Noël Coward’s first big hit. Contemporary, 20th century or classical, every piece has something to say about the world around us today.

We already have a company of exceptional actors lining up to join us for a summer in Chichester. Some of the brightest and best including Dame Eileen Atkins, Gina Beck, Rory Bremner, Sebastian Croft, Joshua James, Danny Mac, Alexandra Roach, Zizi Strallen, Greg Wise, Lia Williams and Susan Wokoma.

And don’t forget our exciting programme of off-stage events for all ages. We’re so much more than just the shows on our stages and there might be something you didn’t even know we had on offer.

Kathy and Daniel say: ‘This is Daniel’s seventh and last season. We want to say an enormous thank you to you, our audiences, who are among the most supportive and adventurous theatregoers in the country. We know you will welcome Daniel’s successor, Justin Audibert, with the same warmth that we both received on our own arrival in this beautiful and unique theatre.

‘Whether you’re coming to see a show, taking part in an event or just popping in for a coffee, we can’t wait to see you soon.’

Tickets start at just £10 for all shows in both Festival and Minerva Theatres, and there are 9,000 tickets at just £5 for 16-30-year-old Prologue members.
