Dementia Friendly Performance: Crazy For You

On Thursday 1 September, we are delighted to be hosting a Dementia Friendly matinee performance of Crazy For You. This brand new production, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, has had 5 star reviews and standing ovations at every performance.

CFT held their first Dementia Friendly performance in 2021 for South Pacific. Following consultation with the Alzheimer’s Society’s Positive Thinkers group, our aim is to preserve Dementia Friendly shows as the spectacle they are, whilst offering an environment which is more accessible to people living with dementia as well as their friends, families and carers.

During the performance, audience members can:

  • Leave and re-enter the theatre at any time
  • Watch the show from the foyer where a relay will be playing on the TV screens
  • Enjoy a plot re-cap at the start of the second half
  • Find a friendly face in our Front of House staff who have all received Dementia Friends training and wear a blue Dementia Friends pin on their uniform

Audience members will receive a visual story e-booklet for the building and the show in advance, there will also be printed copies available at the theatre on the day. We also reduce the volume of the music and elevate the level of our cast’s vocals.

Before the performance, we will be hosting an informal sing-a-long of songs from the show including Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm and They Can’t Take That Away from Me. The pre-show singing event will run from 12.30 – 1.30pm in the Festival Theatre Foyer and anyone is welcome to join, no booking necessary.

All tickets are at the reduced price of £16. For more information or to book tickets for this performance, please contact the Box Office on 01242 781312.
