Chichester Festival Youth Theatre (CFYT) provides opportunities for young people to engage with all aspects of theatre in a professional environment; the Youth Theatre is for everyone and diversity is central to our success.

CFYT is a hugely important part of Chichester Festival Theatre, making full use of its facilities for workshops, performances and major productions. We are made up of seven on site year groups (Year 6+), eight satellite groups, two Technical Youth Theatre groups and CFYT Friday; who all work alongside theatre professionals to discover a wide range of performance styles and techniques.

Weekly workshops are based at the Steven Pimlott Education and Rehearsal Building located at Chichester Festival Theatre, and at our satellite venues in Bognor, Leigh Park, Littlehampton and Midhurst.

Different aspects of Youth Theatre include:

CFYT: Weekly workshops led by experienced professionals, exploring and developing a diverse range of performance styles and theatrical techniques; plus opportunities to perform in productions on the Festival Theatre stage.

There are currently no places in the Youth Theatre. If you would like to be put on the waiting list, please fill in the form. When places become available, they will be allocated by random using a draw system.

Technical Youth Theatre: Workshops are held weekly over a two year course led by a professional stage manager, covering stage lighting and sound, stage management, set design, costume design, mask making, puppetry, prop making and much more.

CFYT Friday: A brand new section of CFYT for disabled young people in school year 11 where you will learn about theatre and develop your own performance skills including movement, character and voice.

Street Art Company: As a member of CFYT you will also have the opportunity to join our street art company who are dedicated to creating exciting pieces of outdoor theatre for events across Chichester and further afield.

New Moves: Our youth dance company for young people aged 11 – 19 who want to explore, create and perform inspiring dance of the highest quality alongside professional dance artists and companies. View New Moves class details
