MIDDLE AGED
MIDDLE MANAGEMENT
MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

Four out-of-condition, middle-aged businessmen, sent off on a team-building exercise, succeed in becoming the first people ever to get shipwrecked on an island in the Lake District.

Bound in by fog, menaced by wildlife and without a mobile signal, this perfunctory middle-class exercise quickly descends into a carnival of recrimination, French cricket and sausages.

What should have been a bonding process for Gordon, Angus, Roy and Neville turns into a muddy, bloody fight for survival. Because when night settles in, strange things happen out in the wilds. And when you’ve no mobile signal, no-one can hear you scream. None of this ill-matched little boardroom would ever forget what took place in the genuine dragons’ den of a November weekend on Neville’s island.

Adrian Edmondson plays Gordon. Best known for his roles in The Young Ones and Bottom, his other television work includes Blackadder, Jonathan Creek and most recently, Ade in Britain. Co-founder of the band The Bad Shepherds, Adrian can be found touring with them this year.

Rufus Hound plays Roy. Recent theatre includes One Man, Two Guvnors and Utopia. He has appeared as a panellist on numerous television shows including Celebrity Juice and Would I lie to You? Last year he appeared in Tim Firth’s film The Wedding Video.

John Marquez plays Neville. He was last at Chichester for Festival 04’s I Caught My Death in Venice and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other theatre and television includes Ding Dong the Wicked, Privates on Parade, Ragtime, Doc Martin and Hotel Babylon.

Tim McMullan plays Angus. His theatre credits include The Master and Margarita, numerous work for the National Theatre including The Cherry Orchard and Burnt by the Sun. Television and film includes Foyle’s War, Parade’s End, Silk and The Woman in Black.

Tim Firth began his professional career at Chichester the last time it had a tent. He went on to write plays such as The Safari Party and Sign of the Times, musicals such as The Flint Street Nativity and Our House, films such as Kinky Boots and television plays such as Preston Front, before returning to Chichester with Calendar Girls.

Associate Director Angus Jackson’s credits for Chichester include Goodnight Mister Tom (also West End and UK tour), The Browning Version (also West End), Canvas, Bingo (also Young Vic), Wallenstein and Funny Girl. He has directed Elmina’s Kitchen, Fix Up, Rocket to the Moon and The Power of Yes for the National Theatre.
