'It is polished, it is joyful, is is about jazz-hands and keeping the joint jumping...it sends you out with a silly grin on your face, and a tendency to attempt really unwise buck-and-wing steps in the Festival car park.'

Broadway comes to Chichester with this classic American musical. Tony Award Winner for Best New Musical when it premiered, 42nd Street combines high octane choreography and one show-stopping number after another with irresistible razzamatazz.

A celebration of the stuff that dreams are made of, 42nd Street is the timeless, inspiring story of smalltown girl Peggy Sawyer’s meteoric rise from the anonymity of the chorus line to the spotlight of the Broadway star.

Deliciously uplifting and joyful, 42nd Street also has the edginess of New York City itself – sexy, glamorous, seductive.

Toe-tap and foot-stomp to Lullaby Of Broadway, We’re In The Money, Keep Young And Beautiful, I Only Have Eyes For You and, of course, the spectacular title number, 42nd Street.

Paul Kerryson is Artistic Director of the new Curve Theatre in Leicester. Recent productions include Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman and The Lieutenant of Inishmore, and the musicals The Light in the Piazza, On Your Toes, Rent and West Side Story.
