9 Sep 2012
Overview
Access (almost) All Areas is part of Heritage Open Days and celebrates Chichester’s ‘Get Active Festival’ in Oaklands Park. But it is also something more…
At the end of September 2012 the lights will go down on the run of Antony and Cleopatra and the final Festival Theatre production of Festival 2012 and the 50th Anniversary season concludes. Within a month work will begin on the RENEW project to update and upgrade the Festival Theatre for the 21st Century.
Take this opportunity on to look around the hidden corners of Chichester’s Festival Theatre before some of them disappear!
Activities will include:
- front of house trails
- mini backstage tours
- act out a scene on stage
- the 5 minute history of Chichester Festival Theatre
- make-up sessions in a dressing room
- walk on stage in lights
- Hear Sir Laurence Olivier’s voice echoes through the auditorium once again
- setting the scene in the scene dock
- See the Administration Block before it’s knocked down!
The Festival Theatre will open its doors to provide activities for anyone with a curiosity for theatre. Timetable and further details of the day’s activities will be found at cft.org.uk/theatretours or from the Festival Theatre Foyer on the day.
Suitable for all ages (over 5 years); there is no need to book in advance.
